PAXLOVID - What you need to know
People at high risk of getting seriously ill with COVID, (ie those 65 or over or with a high risk medical condition,) please learn about Paxlovid.
Paxlovid is a combination of 2 pre-existing antiviral medication that have been studied for treatment of early COVID infection.
A 5 day course can reduce the need to be hospitalized with COVID by 88%
BUT they need to be started in the FIRST 5 DAYS of infection.
If you are high risk for getting seriously ill from COVID we recommend you
1) test for COVID as soon as you develop any cold symptoms
(Please do either one PCR test or at least 2 days in a row with a home antigen test- any positive test counts.)
PCR tests are available curbside during walk-in time.

2) call us if you are positive so we can prescribe for you right away.

What to do if you develop symptoms of COVID 19?
If you develop cold symptoms, you may have COVID 19.  Please do a home test. If that is negative, then isolate for 48 hours and then do a second test. Please let us know if you are having trouble accessing a home test.
If you test negative on both tests then it is unlikely you have COVID 19.
If you test positive on any, please isolate for 5 days and then wear a mask around others for another 5 days. Plus, avoid people at high risk of becoming seriously ill. If you are at high risk of becoming seriously ill (see the link above) then please contact your doctor so we can consider prescribing Paxlovid for you.
