Welcome to Dr Hearst
Dr Hearst will be restarting a small family medicine practice with us in North Bennington. As many of you know, Dr Hearst and I worked together for 10 years at Bennington Family Practice, and we are looking forward to working together again here. He will also be continuing his energy medicine practice in Pownal.
Even though Dr Hearst's practice here will be small, he will be accepting new patients. Priority will be given to his current patients, their families, family members of my patients, children under 18 and people living in North Bennington. Current patients of mine who would like to transfer to Dr Hearst for what ever reason are welcome to do so.
Dr Hearst will keep the office open for longer hours: He plans to be here in the afternoons and on Saturday mornings. He will have daily openings starting at 4 pm for any patient who needs to be seen on short notice.
We are starting a waiting list for those interested in joining his practice. If you are interested, please send in the waiting list form attached above or send me an email with "Waiting list for Dr Hearst" in the subject box. Please include all the information indicated on the form in the body of the email.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Happy Spring,
Avery Wood

From Dr Hearst
I am happy to be joining Dr. Avery Wood after a four year sabbatical from full time conventional medical practice. We have worked well together in the past, and share similar styles of practice. I left my practice at Bennington Family Practice in 2010 after 21 years to develop an energy healing practice. Specifically, this involves feeling a person's subtle energetic state, which underlies our health, and supporting that to a place of more flow and connectivity. That practice has been very gratifying to me and I will continue to work in that way half days at home, and work in conventional medicine in the office with Dr. Wood the other half of the day. I will continue to look at ways to bring those two worlds closer together in the medical office setting, although foresee that largely I will be practicing conventional medicine while at the office.
For the last 3 years, I have worked part time in several hospital owned medical practices that were short handed, and felt like I could best serve the community and myself by coming back to private practice. I will continue to approach patients from a holistic viewpoint, meaning paying attention to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of health. I look forward to seeing familiar and new faces in this practice with Dr. Wood.
