I care for people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest. I am trained as an allopathic
physician. That is to say that I practice Western medicine.
Many of my patients receive care from alternative providers like
naturopathic doctors, doctors of Oriental medicine, massage
therapists and others. I integrate their care with our plans.
As a generalist, I care for common illnesses and work to lower your risk of getting ill. Many of my patients receive care from specialist
physicians like cardiologists, orthopedists, surgeons and others. I
coordinate specialist's plans with ours.
I am Board Certified in Family Medicine.
A BIT ABOUT ME
To become a family doctor, I went to
medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC and
graduated with honors in 1991. I then did my family medicine
residency training at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency
in Augusta, Maine. I started at Bennington Family Practice in 1997
and opened my own office in North Bennington the spring of 2008.
I live in North Bennington with my
husband, and two children. We spend our free time gardening, camping
and Nordic skiing.
MY MEDICAL INTERESTS
Woman's health:I provide pap smears,
breast exams, pregnancy testing, and birth control, including IUDs. I
treat menstrual problems, menopause troubles, and osteoporosis. I
also work to prevent long-standing illnesses like heart disease, and help with emotional issues like depression. I can provide early prenatal care, but I will no longer be
delivering babies. That was a hard decision, but this change will allow me to better focus on my
new office.
Care for children: I care for many
children from birth to adulthood. My practice is always open to new
babies. I provide check-ups, vaccines, and help with parenting
issues; I treat ear infections, asthma and other common childhood
illnesses. As is the case in adult medicine, if we need a
specialist's help, I make referrals and coordinate care.
Preventing disease:Preventing
diseases and complications from diseases is central to my practice.
I encourage habits that improve health. I help patients understand their medical
problems and suggest ways to prevent complications from them.
I coordinate testing for early detection and prevention of diseases like heart disease and cancer.
